In 1993, UNESCO declared Menorca a Biosphere Reserve because of its environmental diversity and natural values.
The name ‘Menorca’ comes from the Roman word ‘Minor’, and the name of its sister island comes from the word ‘Maior’.
Menorca is a tranquil island with less than 100,000 inhabitants throughout. The biggest urban centres are Mahón and Ciudadela with almost 50,000 inhabitants each.
The official languages are Castilian Spanish and ‘menorquín’. The island being an important international tourist destination, the locals have direct contact with tourism
and also speak other languages such as English, German, French, Italian…

On the island you’ll find the weather humid and temperate. We generally don’t have extreme temperatures.
MENORCA not only offers beaches, calas and remains from the Talaiotic Period, but it is also an important cultural area.
The most well-known towns are: Ciudadela, Mahón, Alayor, Mercadal and Ferreríes. Each of these municipalities have amazing areas such as: Binibeca (South), Binisafulla
(South), Fornells (North), Arenal d´en Castell (North), Son Parc with its amazing golf course (North), Cala Morell (North), Calen Blanes (North), Cala Blanca (South), Calan
Bosch (South), Santo Tomas (South), Cala Galdana (South), Son Bou (South) and many others...
For interesting places to visit, we recommend: Cova d´en Xoroi, Monte Toro, Fortaleza La Mola, Torre de Fornells, Fuerte de Marlborough, Canteras de S´Hortal, S´Albufera d´es
Grau, Faro de Favàritx and the other extremely beautiful Faros (lighthouses) that the island offers (for example, at Faro de Calan Bosch, you can even stop for a drink in
the lighthouse itself), Catedral de Ciutadella and its spectacular old town with its amazing alleyways…
We, of course, have our favourite calas, such as Cala Turqueta, Macarella and Macarelleta, Pregonda and Cavallería, Mitjana, Son Saura, Son Bou... and an endless number of
calas, unspoilt beaches and completely indescribable spaces…
